The Family Peer Mentor Coordinator will lead and oversee the management of tailored support to families with children aged pre-birth - 19 to meet identified needs.  The post holder will engage and develop local partnership working to promote this service to meet the schemes stated objectives and outcomes and work with partners to assess need and to provide appropriate interventions for children, young people and families.

Southend Blind Welfare Organisation
Sight Loss Advisor
Part time (3 days a week)

Due to a recent grant award, Southend Blind Welfare Organisation (SBWO) is looking for a self motivated Sight Loss Advisor. 

As a Sight Loss Advisor, your main area of work will be assisting with the running of the Equipment and Information Centre in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff.  Here you will be holding one to one consultations with people wanting help and advice, with a view to making home visits in the future.

Your role will also include utilising the SBWO database to organise rotas, liaise with other local services, process orders and payments and respond to day to day queries that reach the charity.  This may include help with magnification, lighting, watches, phones, clocks, talking books.

Technology plays a big part in enabling people to remain independent in their own home and the successful candidate will need to be confident with new technological developments within the sector and have proven experience with database work as well as Word and Excel.

This new role requires somebody with a caring and empathetic manner who is happy to learn on the job.  Previous experience working in the sector is advantageous, but not essential.  An extensive training programme will be offered.

  • To be responsible for leading the planning and delivery of a programme of activities for Young Carers (8-18 years) across the Castle Point and Basildon districts including managing a team of paid staff and volunteers.

  • To provide support and information for Young Carers

  • To develop relationships with schools and other services in supporting the identification of Young Carers and provision of support

HARP are looking for an highly dynamic individual to join the Homeless Prevention Team at The Bradbury Centre. This opportunity is based in a busy and energetic environment. The Bradbury Centre team will enable long-term rough sleepers to improve their mental health and physical wellbeing and move off the streets into supported housing providing stability and support. Focus will be on helping to support improvements to their mental health, managing physical health problems, sustaining a tenancy with support under the Transition Project and other accommodation options.

HARP are looking to recruit an experienced co-ordinator for the Lottery Funded ‘Transitions’ accommodation services in Southend. Reporting to a Service Manager, you will be responsible for the management of a team of front-line staff in a high-support hostel service and step-down hostels leading to move-on to independent living. You will work with and deputise for the Service Manager to ensure that a recovery focussed service is provided to service users and that the service is operated in line with HARP values, procedures and legal requirements and that it meets the funder’s and service user’ needs.

To be considered for this role, you will need the demonstrable ability to lead a staff team to deliver a highly effective, client centred accommodation service for service users with multiple and complex needs that include substance use and mental health and the ability to take day to day responsibility for the property and other service resources. This experience must include the holistic assessment of need, support and risk, and multi-agency casework planning.

HARP are looking to recruit an experienced person with substantial knowledge of mental health service provision for the Lottery Funded ‘Transitions’ accommodation services in Southend. Reporting to a Team Leader, you will be part of an integrated team of front-line staff based at The Bradbury Centre working to improve long term rough sleeper’s mental health, physical wellbeing to aid the move off the streets into ‘Transitions’ supported housing providing stability and support.

Developing, creating and maintaining partnerships with the voluntary and statutory mental health agencies is a vital component of the role to deliver maximum impact to helping service users sustain their accommodation and achieve a better quality of life.
