Keep Safe in Castle Point

The Keep Safe Scheme has now been launched in Castle Point and the first venue to sign up to the scheme was Hadleigh Library.

Keep Safe Partners

What Is Keep Safe?

Keep Safe is a community partnership scheme that supports vulnerable people when they are out and about in town centres or high streets in Essex.

How Does Keep Safe Work?

Keep Safe LogoTown centre venues, such as shops, businesses, libraries etc. offer a Keep Safe cardholder safe access to a telephone if the cardholder finds themselves in trouble or difficulty of any kind, whilst out in the town.  The venues are easily identified by the bright yellow Keep Safe telephone sticker displayed in a window or front door.

What Do Keep Safe Cardholders Have To Do?

First member to sign upKeep Safe members are issued with a Keep Safe Cardholder pack.  This contains a fold up contact card with easy read pictures, a key ring, a plastic contact card and key tag, together with a list of current venues in Castle Point.  The Keep Safe cardholder completes the card with their own trusted contacts who can help them if they are in difficulty or need.  Just show the Keep Safe card to the venue, and use their phone to contact someone on the card.  The Keep Safe venue can also make a phone call on behalf of the cardholder and, if required, act as a safe place to wait in until help arrives.

Who Can Join?

In Castle Point, the scheme is open to:

  • Anyone aged 18 or above with a  learning disability/disability
  • Anyone aged 18 or above with mental ill health
  • Vulnerable people aged 60 or above

How Much Does Keep Safe Cost?

Nothing!  The scheme is free for both cardholders and venues.  Keep Safe cards can now be used in other areas of Essex too, making journeys and visits that bit safer.
